The Lumiere Festival is coming back to London in January 2018 after a successful 2016 run!
Organised by creative company Artichoke since 2009, the festival is free to attend. It takes place in Durham every two years and in recent years London has taken the slot every other year.
Inspired in part by the Fête des lumières started in Lyon in 1643, Light Festivals have fascinated the public around the world for decades. The London event will take place between the 18th and 21st of January, lighting up 4 London nights. In a month known as “January Blues”, the event is set to brighten up Londoners’ lives after the Christmas rush.
In 2016, the event attracted 1.3 million visitors, and King’s Cross had to be evacuated due to overcrowding. So make sure you arrive as early as possible as I’m sure this year they might add security to limit the flow!
Date: 18-21 January 2018
Where: Throughout London. New locations will be added this year in order to include more areas of London and its boroughs.
